Speeding You Back to the Airport
It's not that we are keen to see visitors leave you understand, but the opening of a new bypass around the town of Ennis will see them on the way from Galway to their flight in Shannon Airport in a greatly reduced time.
For years the narrow medieval streets of Ennis have been clogged with traffic and anyone making that journey had no option but endure a slow, slow crawl through the town. What looked like an inconsequently short hop on the map turned into a stressful go-slow marathon, all too often ending with keys flung towards car rental companies as red-faced and harrassed passengers made a frantic dash for a closing departure gate.
It'll make Ennis a much more pleasant town to visit too.
Anone visiting Ireland in 2007 should note though that the road will only appear on the most up-to-date maps. If your map is older, the road basically goes from Crusheen to Dromoland, cutting out the curve of the old road so that you bypass Ennis on your right.
