Irish and Chinese
I have just spent a couple of hours trying to register a domain name for a friend who wanted to use an Irish word, or one of a selection of them, with a .com.
I didn't expect it to be too difficult but almost every word or word combination we tried was already registered and most of them in China. It never occured to me that there was any resemblence between Irish and Chinese but there must be, on the catchy name level at least.
Either that or the Chinese are investing heavily in domain names in Irish.

My friend is always boasting about his domain dearadh.com (the irish word for design) but never put up a site because people can't pronounce the word, so maybe icksnay on the gaeilge.
