Why I Love Kilkenny
I came to Kilkenny 21 years ago last month, taking a job I intended to stay in for a year or so before moving on. My plan then was to eventually settle somewhere with a view of the sea, close to Dublin and all its theatres, galleries, shops and nightlife. A small and sleepy inland city didn't tick any of the boxes, but would do for a while.
I'm still here and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Of course Kilkenny is not anything like as small or as sleepy as it was then, but it hasn't changed too much. While browsing around Flickr to-day I came accross a set of photographs of Kilkenny - the city, the surrounding towns and villages, Jenkinstown Wood, Inistioge and the gentle rolling countryside of this area. They are almost all of places familiar to me now, but seen through the wonderful eye of a great photographer.
Have a look - see why I never left!
