Rescuing Tourists

I seem to have developed a little side line in rescuing lost tourists this past few days!

This evening I drove down to the shop to buy milk and there met a German couple who were becoming distraught, having spent almost an hour looking for the B&B they were booked into. I offered directions but that seemed to panic them further - turns out they had already had directions from 3 different people and had only succeeded in becoming even more lost as a result.

This I could empathise with, having been the recipient of dodgy directions myself on many occasions. So I just told them to follow me in their car and led them to the door, as it happens they were nearly there anyway.

The other rescue (ok, so maybe its stretching it to call driving by a B&B a rescue, humour me) was unasked for, the people didn't seem that grateful but I am very glad I was there just the same.

I was walking the dog just before dark a few days ago, and walking in front of me were two American visitors who were heading towards town from their hotel. They came to a road junction and paused, looking left and right at the two pubs on the other side, obviously considering which one they would patronise. Then they evidently made their decision and headed left. I started to run and caught up with them.

"Excuse me" I said "But are you going into that pub?"
"Yes"
"Well don't, go into that one" I said pointing to the right.

They did not enquire why, in fact they made no comment, just looked at me rather strangely, but they took my advice and diverted.

The pub they had originally chosen is known locally by the nickname "the bucket of blood". Now that counts as a rescue.
