Around Dublin by Bike
Visitors to Dublin this year will have a new option for getting around the city - a rickshaw! Far from the traditional kind, these are Velotaxis - sleek, modern machines, built to be ecologically friendly, safe and fun to travel in.
They are already a common sight in many European cities, particularly in Germany where the taxis were first developed and are now in use in over 20 cities. Lest you pity the poor drivers, most are young students or athletes, delighted to find a job which is "like doing fitness training for which you get paid" and each cab is fitted with an electric motor for those occasions when pedel power just isn't enough.
In Dublin they will be known as Ecocabs and by selling sponsorship and advertising the operators plan to keep them free for passengers.
