The Irish Landmark Trust takes on historic buildings that are abandoned or at risk of ruin and conserves and restores them, then makes them available for short term holiday rentals.
The places available to rent are very varied but always interesting and historic and very special places to stay. They range from a lighthouse in Co Clare to a townhouse in central Dublin, from a castellated gate lodge in Cork to a former land agents house in Donegal, and plenty more besides.
Many are in places a little off the beaten track, some are quirky or even eccentric, they can be tiny places ideal for a romantic break or large buildings capable of accommodating an extended family.
The Landmark Trust is a not for profit charitable trust and their work not only results in making some truly fascinating self catering accommodation available, it plays a vital role in saving a valuable parts of Ireland's built heritage.
