The John Hewitt was voted Best Gastro Pub in the Fate Magazine awards 2007, which will have come as no surprise to regular patrons. An excellent lunch is served every day and the ‘Talking Bowls’ snack menu, served on Friday and Saturday is particularly popular.
The pub prides itself on its wide selection of speciality beers, which include Bitburger, Germany's number one selling beer, Tyskie, a highly rated Polish lager, Kostritzer, an unusual black lager from eastern Germany and Cusquena, an all natural Peruvian beer, to name just a few.
Traditional music sessions are a regular feature in the evenings, with Jazz, Ulster Scots Folk or Cajun also featuring regularly.
