The King's Head Pub is full of history, the building dates back over 800 years at which time it was known as Bank's Castle.
In the intervening years it has been a Gunmakers shop and a Grocers. Renovation in the 1990's revealed two original fireplaces, beside one of which visitors can now enjoy a quiet pint or a tasty meal.
The pub is spread over three floors, with bars, stage areas and quiet snugs. It's popular with visitors to Galway and residents alike, with a big student following too.
There is live entertainment every evening, sometimes music, mostly rock, sometimes comedy and the King's Head is the place to be in Galway when big sporting events are taking place - anything from a Hurling Final, to the Grand National will see the place filled to capacity with happy crowds.
An all day bar menu whcih uses fresh local produce includes Galway seafood, pizzas and Irish Stew.
