Live at the Marquee

This series of events, which encompasses both music (of very varied types and vintages) and comedy, had its beginnings in 2005 when Cork was the European Capital of Culture. It was intended as a one off event, but proved so popular that it has returned every year since.
All the performances take place in a large Marquee specially erected in Cork’s Docklands area, a once ramshackle part of town that has seen extensive development in recent years. While the marquee is large – it can hold up to 4000, mostly standing – it makes a very intimate venue and the events have a very particular and special atmosphere.
The line up for 2011 kept up the variety and the high standard of previous years, with a line up that included Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Tom Jones, Nick Cave and Bryan Adams as well as top Irish acts like Imelda May. You can expect a similar standard in 2012.
