Dochara and Your Privacy
Because we gather certain types of information from our users, we feel you should fully understand what information we collect and how we use it.
This privacy statement discloses every sort of information we are collect or are privy to about visitors to our site, what the purpose of collecting it is, how it is used and how it is protected.
Quick Summary!
There is a lot of detail here if you want to read it but basically what this comes down to is that we treat all information you share with us as being absolutely confidential, will use it only for the purpose for which it was provided and never, ever share it with anybody else.
And that is a fact.
The Information we Gather and Track
DoChara gather the following types of information about users:
Information submitted via our Contact Page
Information entered by you on our contact page is required so that we can respond to your queries, it is used only for that purpose and no other. All queries are treated as confidential.
Information Provided when Registering at our Forum
Your email address is the only identifying information you are required to enter when registering to use our "Ask About Ireland" board. It will not be used for anything other than essential board functions (such as resending a lost password) and will never be shared with anyone.
Email Addresses Entered into our Newsletter Subscription Form
This information is collected for the purpose of sending occasional newsletter when requested to do so by a user of our site. The information collected in this way is used for no purpose other than this.
Information Collected by our "Tell a Friend" Service
Our users can choose to forward a link to someone else by clicking a "Tell a Friend" button and completing a form. The user must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the email. The information is not used for any other purpose.
Information Entered When Sending a Postcard
In order to send a postcard we need to know the email address of the sender and the recipient. This information is retained for 30 days in our records so that the recipient can visit or revisit the card for that length of time. The information is then discarded. We will never contact either the sender or the recipient except to send the card and confirm that is has been read, nor will we use the information provided for any other purpose.
Information Collected by our "Best & Worst of Ireland" Survey
The information gathered from respondents to this survey will be used to compile lists of the Top 10 Best and Top 10 Worst things about Ireland. While quotes from some responses may be used, no identifying information will be associated with them and all responses will be treated with absolute confidentiality.
Names and email address are required solely to allow us to contact those respondents who win a Book Token and to notify any respondent who has requested notification when the results of the survey are published.
Statistical Information about Traffic to our Site
DoChara tracks user traffic patterns throughout our site. However, we do
not correlate this information with data about individual users. We also track
and catalogue the search terms that users entered in order to find our site,
or which they enter into our own Search function, but again this tracking is
never associated with individual users.
We use the information to determine which areas of our sites users like and
don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual
users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us
continue to build a better and more useful site for you.
Use and Protection of User Information
DoChara uses any information voluntarily given by our users only for the express purpose for which that information was intended.
Sharing of Information
DoChara uses the above described information to tailor our content to suit your needs and to best provide information the information our users want. We do not and will not ever share information about individual users with any third party, except where we are required to do so to comply with any applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.
Security
DoChara operates secure data networks protected by industry standard
firewall and password protection systems. Our security and privacy policies
are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorised
individuals have access to the information provided by our users.
If we decide to change our privacy policy, which is very unlikely, we will
post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what
information we collect and how we use it. If you have any questions about this
privacy policy please contact
info@dochara.com for clarification.
