Donegal Airport
It is most unlikely that a truly commercial airport could survive in this remote location, close to the extreme north-west of Ireland in the Rosses/Gweedore area, and this one exists largely though government subsidy and development fund investment.
And thank goodness it does, because it brings this beautiful part of the country, some 5 hours drive from Dublin, within less than a hour of the capital. Take a flight up here, stay a few days and I absolutely promise you it will be the best part of your trip to Ireland. Expect to pay between €60 and €140 for a return flight.
Don't expect anything fancy, its a small local airport, but one doing a very good job for the people of the area.
We have independent reviews of recommended accommodation in the north-west
