Live at the Marquee

This eclectic series of events, held in a marquee in Cork’s Docklands, started when the city was European Capital of Culture in 2005 and has gone from strength to strength since.

The 2009 line up is as varied as ever, and includes acts as diverse as The Priests, Simple Minds, Rod Steward, Des Bishop and 50 Cent.

Cat Laughs Comedy Festival

This annual event is a fixture on the comedy circuit and brings not just the cream of Irish comedians to Kilkenny but some of the best and funniest comedians in the world.

They like it because its a non-competitive event at which shows are not televised, so they get to try out new or less main stream shows. The audiences just keep on growing, so it’s obviously a winning formula all round.

A unique and crazy annual festival held on Inis Mor on the Aran Islands which celebrates the cult TV series Father Ted.

This may well be Ireland’s hottest ticket, with a lottery used to select attendees in previous years due to massive over subscription. The ticket may be hot, but the island certainly won’t be in February.
