An 18 hole championship standard parkland course designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr, Athlone is in a wonderful location surrounded by the waters of Lough Ree.
While this is not as well known as many Irish courses, it is excellently maintained, especially the greens, and provides a real challange.
Especially interesting holes include the dog-leg par five 5th, the 12th, with it's blind tee shot and a green with very dauntingly positioned bunkers and the long par four 15th where trees seem to have been postioned by the devil!
The course is designed to take advantage of the magnificent views over the lake and there are lovely old woodlands which provide interesting challenges throughout.
Excellent catering in the clubhouse, a friendly informal athmosphere and a really good pro combine to make this a great club for any visiting golfers.
The club adjoins the Hodson Bay Hotel where good accommodation is available and is just 5 minutes drive from Athlone.
Green Fees: €22 - 35 Depending on season and day.
