This place is both unique and beautiful, set in the rocky and majestic region of Connemara which will have even those golfers normally unmoved by scenery gasping in admiration. It is totally exposed to ever shifting winds blowing in from the Atlantic which make it a completely different course each time you play it.
If you define a links course in its strictest meaning then it should be a course built entirely on sand. Few actually are - this is one of them. Originally an 18 hole course, a third nine has just been added and there will eventually be 36.
The course is cleverly designed by Eddie Hacket, a links master, to ensure that even apparantly straightforward holes will make you stop and think. On the 9th for example, a relatively short par 5, a stream crosses just in front of the green, ready to trap any loose shots, while at the dog leg par 4 4th, two very good shots are needed to reach a green which slopes gently from front to rear and can end up leaving you in trouble no matter how good your approach.
And always here there is the wind, which can change direction in mid hole and make the ball behave is most unexpected ways.
Play this course if you can, you will not have experienced anything like this anywhere before.
Green Fees: €30 - €55
