Leisureland is a large sports and entertainments centre in Salthill, just a few minutes from Galway city centre. As well as a the three swimming pools, which are the main attraction, there is an outdoor amusement park with with bumper cars, miniature train rides, crazy golf and a huge bouncy castle-like set-up.
The pools have something for kids of all ages, from the Treasure Cove section complete with pirate ship, to the 65m waterslide and pools specially for toddlers. They cater well for those with mobility problems and it is possible to wheel a wheelchair right into a pool. There are also areas for those who just want to swim!
There are also restaurants and shops and an adjoining conference centre which also functions as a concert hall and a venue for regular music concerts.
Leisureland has saved many a family from the potential disaster that is bored kids on a rainy day - file this one away for just such an emergency!
