Yeats Weekend Winter School
Note: Details below refer to the previous event. Updated information for this year will be published here as soon as it becomes available.
A Winter companion to the better known Yeats Summer School , this weekend event is an opportunity to learn more about one of Ireland's greatest poets in a friendly athmosphere and surrounded by the places he loved.
The speakers for the 2008 weekend inlcuded Nicholas Grene, Professor of English Literature in Trinity College Dublin, and poet Harry Clifton who teaches at University College Dublin.
The programme each year consists of morning lectures followed by guided tours to places of interest in the afternoon, generally including tours of Lough Gill and of Lissadell House and a visit to Yeat's burial place at Drumcliffe. Always there are lively evenings planned, with music on Friday and dinner on Saturday night, and this is a friendly and convivial gathering.
Full details for 2009 have yet to be announced.
