The Shindig Festival 2009
The 'Shindig' is a fun and action packed weekend long festival which takes place in Tralee in Co Kerry, in 2009 centered around the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on the outskirts of the town, and features great Irish music, singing and storytelling and gives a cental place to set dancing and Sean-Nós dancing.Throughout the weekend there are workshops on all aspects and styles of Traditional Irish Dancing, with classes to suit everyone from complete beginners to more experienced dancers wishing to expand their repetoire or improve their footwork.
At night time you can practice your skills at a series of ceili, where music will be provided by local musicians such as the Johnny Reidy Ceili Band, the Swallow's Tail Ceili Band and the Abbey Ceili Band from Cork.
For those visiting Ireland at this time who have not previously attend a ceili, a treat is in store as well as an unforgettable experience! It's fast, it's fun and it will leave your head whilling and your body exhausted, and all you need to join in is a sense of fun and a willingness to learn - there will be lots of opportunity for that here.
As well as the dancing there are many sessions planned and you can be sure of hearing Irish traditional music of a very high quality played throughout the weekend.
