A mix of mostly classical but some traditional music performed in a series of concerts in the unique surroundings of this lovely church dating from 1826. Located in Castletownshend in Cork, the festival is not concentrated into a few days and attracts mostly a local crowd, but the standard of performances is very high and it is well worth going along if you are in the area.

The Church itself, built of stone from nearby Horse Island, is worth a visit even if there is nothing on. In the porch there is an oar from the ship The Lusitania, a memorial to those who died when the ship sank close to the local harbour. There are some fine stained glass windows and a particularly attractive floor mosaic based on celtic imagery, laid in 1925.

Among the performers in 2008 will be  the Ensemle Avalon, a fresh and dynamic piano trio featuring three of Ireland's finest internationally accomplished soloists and chamber musicians, Ioana Petcu-Colan on violin, Gerald Peregrine on cello and Michael McHale on piano.

A traditional Irish Music night will feature Garry Walsh, Niamh Ni Charra, Donnacha Moynihan and Cyril O'Donoghue.

The church is a memorable venue and attending any event in it will be a night to trasure.
