Dan Paddy Andy Festival
Note: Details below refer to the previous event. Updated information for this year will be published here as soon as it becomes available.
Lyreacrompane (say: Lye-rah-crum-pawn) is a beautiful area located between Listowel and Kenmare in Co Kerry, in the foothills of the Stack Mountains. It isn't a town, not even a village, just a rural community scattered through the hills. There is nothing fancy and theatrical going on at this festival, it's a local event for local people but they are delighted if visitors come to join in and will make them very welcome.
The festival gets its name from the last of the great Irish Matchmakers - Dan Paddy Andy O'Sullivan. Events include open-air platform dancing, marquee dancing, drama, a dog show and children's events and a walk in the land of Dan Paddy Andy.
If you are in Kerry this weekend and want to get away from the tourists and meet with the locals at play, this is the place to be. I gaurantee you will have a good time - it could easily be the highlight of your vacation.
