Poetry Now Festival
Note: Details below refer to the previous event. Updated information for this year will be published here as soon as it becomes available.

The Poetry Now Festival takes place in Dún Laoghaire and is Ireland's largest and most prestigious poetry event.
No details are available yet for 2009, but the following will give you a feel for the festival and its events.
The 2008 festival opens with a keynote address by Ruth Padel, who will draw on the work of three very different poets – Emily Dickinson, Alfred Tennyson and the contemporary British poet David Harsent – to consider “the tussle of thought and sound” at the heart of the poem.
Events over the weekend include a wide variety of poetry readings, workshops and several children's events. The highlights of the festival are the announement of the winners of two annual awards: The Irish Times Poetry Now Award and the Rupert and Eithne Strong Award.
Big attendances are a feature at most readings and the top attractions in 2008 include the appearance of Seamus Heaney alongside US poet C.D. Wright.
