Note: Details below refer to the previous event. Updated information for this year will be published here as soon as it becomes available.

Since its inception in 1954 the Cork Choral Festival has grown to become one of the most important events in the amateur International Choral calendar with choirs travelling from all over the world to take part in four days of keenly contested competition - and much socialising too!

While the details of the 2009 festival are not yet available, in 2008 choirs from Belarus, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the USA competed for the prestigious Fleischmann International Trophy, with events taking place in the magnificent Cork City Hall.

As well as the International competition, there are National Competitions involving over 100 Adult, Youth and School choirs from all over Ireland - in all there will be more than 5000 singers in the city, so if you enjoy Choral music this is an event not to miss.

There are many fringe events, concerts and impromptu performances in numerous other venues throughout Cork city during the festival. The relaxed friendly atmosphere makes it very popular with travelling choirs and they are always very involved in non-competitive singing events also.
