Held annually in the beautiful West Cork town of Ballydehob, this traditional festival encompasses music, song, dance and storytelling and is a particularly friendly and sociable event. There are concerts and sessions in the various local pubs every night, with lunchtime events and spontaneous seeions in the streets during the day.
Workshops are a central part of this festival, with most of those who will perform spending their days passing on their skill in dance, singing, flute, fiddle, concertina and more to a new generation of performers.
Among the headline names apprearing in 2008 are legendary Box Player Bobby Gardiner, who willnot only perform but also hold a series of workshops.Dancer Ronan Regan, a leading exponent of sean-nós dance and a natural teacher, will also lead workshops.
Co Clare's Edel Fox, a former winner of the TG4 Young Musician of the Year, has become renowned as not just an extremely talented musician but a teacher of concertina and her's are likely to be extremely popular workshops.
Woth flute player Harry Bradley and singer Eilís Ní Shúilleabháin also confirmed, the 2008 programme is shaping up to be the best yet at Féile Átha Dá Chab.
