Ok, so in 2006 you have the famous RAF Red Arrows display team - how do you follow that?

Easy, you get the US Airforce Thunderbirds Aerial Demonstration Team to make their first ever visit to Ireland. Salthill have done just that, making this event a must for any lover of aviation.

In a mixed display of solo routines and formation flying, the Thunderbirds' demonstration includes more than 30 precision aerial maneuvers. It will be a thrilling display, and admission to the show is free of charge.

The Irish Air Corps will be there too, the RAF are back with a solo display Tucano and there will, as usual, be several aircraft on the ground for those attending to get an up-close look.

It'll be a spectacular afternoon in Salthill, and worth making a detour for.
