Taste of Dublin Festival 2009
Note: Details below refer to the previous event. Updated information for this year will be published here as soon as it becomes available.
For 4 days in June 2008 Dublin was truly a foodie paradise, with 22 of the city's top restraunteurs and many speciality and artisan food producers, presenting their wares in an open-air setting beside Dublin Castle. If there is anyone who still believes that Ireland is something of a culinary desert, this event shattered that illusion for once and all.
Visitors were able to sample taster portions of signature dishes from restaurants such as the Michelen starred Chapter One, Thorntons and Patrick Guilbaud, indulge themselves in the Chocolate Experience and educate their palates at the Wine and Spirit Academy.
The sucess of this event in its previous two years means it will almost certainly be back in 2009, but no dates are yet available.
Whether you want to hone your own cooking skills at the chef's demonstrations, learn about new foods appearing on Ireland's increasingly multi-cultural food markets or just enjoy the tastes on offer, this really is a wonderful experience for anyone who enjoys good food.
It's all held in a very laid back and good humoured athmosphere and it's extremely popular - so if you are in Dublin at this time and want to give your taste buds a treat, book early!
