Garden Show Ireland
Note: Details below refer to the previous event. Updated information for this year will be published here as soon as it becomes available.
This wonderful event at Hillsborough Castle really has something for anyone with even a passing interest in gardening, and for the enthusiast it is an absolute joy. It's location in the castle's walled garden is perfect and if the weather is right even those who don't know a dibble from a hoe can sit happily in the sun at the 'village green' sipping champagne, eating strwberries and listening to music.
There are several show gardens to see with design clinics to help those who would like to emulate them, the grower's pavilion will have exhibits by specialist nurseries from all over the UK and a team of well known and respected gardeners will be on hand for very popular 'Gardener's Question Time' events.
Always popular at this show are the young gardeners events, with miniature gardens designed by schools and Green Fingers Woekshops which let kids get stuck in to learn the practical skills of gardening.
There are also food stalls and exhibits, an arts and crafts show and a special exhibit about beekeeping. Visitors to the show can also explore the castle's gardens, always worth a visit even if you cannot be there at the time the garden show is on.
