Cape Clear International Story Telling Festival
The art of storytelling is celebrated during this festival on beautiful Cape Clear Island off the coast of Co Cork with formal and informal storytelling sessions, workshops, musical events and discussions.
Storytellers for 2008 include Peter Chand, Len Graham, Nuala Hayes, Daniel Morden, Dovie Thomason and Liz Weir.
Dovie Thomason and Peter Chand will tell tales from North America and South Asia while Daniel Morden tells Gypsy Tales. Liz Weir from Northern Ireland has a capacity to mesmerise with her stories that is unparalleled.
There will be a Heritage Walk led by Diarmuid O'Drisceoil and Geoff Oliver, no doubt with plenty of yarns told along the way, while Nuala Hayes and Len Graham present Stories and Songs from Celtic Cousins including tales of sightings of the Cailleach.
Storytelling is not a medium that lends itself to easily to large crowds and the intimate atmosphere of many of the events here are perfectly suited to allowing the audience to interact with the storytellers in a way that brings their tales fully to life.
A fun festival and one that has something for everyone.
