Earagail Arts Festival
With events taking place at locations throughout Co Donegal, this growing festival has an emphasis on family-friendly events as well as a solid programme covering theatre, comedy, music, poetry and the visual arts.
Music events are very strong, and mainly Irish or folk music dominated.
The 2008 programme will include more than 100 events at 15 different locations, including a specially comissioned composition by Donal Lunny and a new production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Local artists from the An Cosán Glas group are collaborating with Portuguese artist Victor Gama to create and interactive sound sculpture at Magherourty Beach, which certainly sounds intrigueing.
In the Visual Arts the highlight of this year's festival is a restropective of the work of Op Art founder Victor Vasarely, which will take place at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny.
There are also performances by BritAward nominee Richard Hawley and post-punk performers The Fall.
