Cork Midsummer Festival
Encompassing theatre, dance, music of many varieties, visual arts and even circus, this is truly a festival with something for everyone.
The 2008 Cork Midsummer Festival gets underway with the Lord Mayor’s Picnic in the Park on Sunday 15th June and then moves into a packed 3 weeks of theatre, site-specfic performance, music, visual art and an exciting new Irish Examiner Spiegeltent programme.
Festival highlights include Corcadorca, who will stage The Hairy Ape by Eugene O'Neill. Sensazione, an extraordinary theatrical fairground carnival of Laika and Time Circus which needs the physical energy and enthusiasm of the audience - The machines won't start moving and the lamps won't start burning until you use your muscles.
The Abbey Theatre will bring their production of Conor McPherson's The Seafarer to Cork, and the Speigal Tent will host, among others, German rock band Faust and singer Camille O'Sullivan.
