Kinsale Arts Week

The programme at Kinsale features local, national and international work including visual art, theatre, music, literature, film, dance, architecture, and family entertainment. Community involvement is at the fore, with local artists showcasing their work and many arts projects reacing their conclusing in time for each year's festival.
Events take place not just inside, but in the harbour, on the steets and even in the boats that are so central to life in Kinsale.
The headline performers for 2008, both of whom have outdoor concerts at Charles Fort, are Elkie Brooks and a promised Cuban Extravaganza featuring Ska Cubano and El Guayabero, the band fronted by Faustino Oramas of Buena Vista Social Club fame.
There will also be comedy, music, theatre as well as visual arts and literary events.
It's Kinsale, so there will be food events and lots of good things to eat all week.
Childen are very well catered for with an extensive programme of dedicated events, including a Pirate Treasure Hunt, a Mr Men party and a series of workshops which include Circus skills, bronze sculpture, puppet making and sand sculpture.
