World Rally Championship 2009
For the first time in 2007 a round in the World Rally Championship took place in Ireland, and in 2009 the WRC is coming back - bigger and better.
This time Ireland has the honour of staging the opening of the rally, an event normally held in Monte Carlo.
The World Rally Championship is regarded as being among one the most demanding and challenging of motor sport competitions and the world's elite rallying talent will be on show at this event. The Irish round will present a tough challenge for even the best of drivers, with not only Irish November weather, which is almost invariably wet, to contend with but roads that are more bumpy and narrow than many will have encounterd previously.
The route is centered in the North West of Ireland and goes through some fabulously scenic areas and while the drivers may have little time to appreciate this, spectators centainly will.
