Waterford Film Festival 2008
Last year was the first year for this newcomer to the Irish film calender and its ambitious programme, which included a wide range of films from feature films, documentaries and animation to experimental and student work, was a huge success. Back in 2008 it will concentrate on short films this year.
There are a host of awards on offer, including best feature film and best feature documentary.
There is a strong emphasis on young film makers, and Irish film makers in particular, mainly through the series of awards on offer for shorts, including best film, best Irish film, best documentary, best animation and best Irish animation.
With entries from Ireland UK, USA, Europe and Australia, the festival seems off to a good start.
Waterford is a city that enjoys a good time and is good at festivals, so you can expect local pubs and hotels to rise to the occasion and have special events and deals available thoughout the weekend.
