Clonmel Song Festival
2008 is Clonmel's sixth annual Song Festival and the main event is an International Song Contest, which attracts entries from all over Europe to compete for a €4000 prize fund, the Tipperary Crystal Perpetual Trophy and the chance to get some valuable time in a professional recording studio.
During the days leading up to the grand final open mic sessionss take place at various venues around the town, with public audiences in attendance. These tend to be small venues, giving competitors, and anyone else who cares to take part, a chance to hone their performing skills in a very supportive setting.
Those entering songs can also attend workshops and meet up with fellow songwriters from far and near, before the final Grand Final when the 10 finalists will perform in front of the expert judging panel.
