Feakle Traditional Music Festival
Feakle has always been an area steeped in traditional music and is the home of the famed East Clare sytle. For the last 20 years this festival has been bringing some of the very best musicians together for a feast of performances relished by all lovers of traditional music.
The programme for 2008 includes many big names from the Irish music world, including Frankie Gavin and Máirtín O'Connor, Eimear Quinn, Róisín Elstafty, Helen Hayes, Vincent Griffen and Mary Corry, the Mulcahy Family and Mary MacNamara..
In addition to the entertainment there are workshops for singers and players of all pretty much all instruments and at all levels. There is storytelling, dancing, poetry, guided tours of local areas - there will even be dancing at the crossroads!
The festival is also known for its history of particularly excellent posters.
If you can only attend one trad event this year, pick Feakle.
