Baboró International Arts Festival for Children
This is a unique festival in the Irish calendar, aimed squarely at kids and at getting shcools and families from thoughtout the West and beyond involved in a vast array of events that cover just about every aspect of the arts.
From relatively small beginings in 1998, the festival has grown massively - last year more that 40,000 children attend the festival at some point and with a bigger festival than ever planned this year the only way that figure can go is up.
Performers from around the world will converge on Galway bringing dozens of shows which include puppetry, music, theatre, dance, storytelling and juggling. Workshops have a central place, getting children involved in creating their own art and exploring their creative sides. There are art exhibitions, music concerts, literature events and special screenings of films. Events regulaly pour into the streets in colourful performances and parades.
There are events aimed at children aged from three years to 16 years, most of them enjoyed just as heartily by the older 'children' who accompany them!
Full details of the 2008 programme will be published in early September.
