IMAGINE - Waterford Arts Festival
This is the sixth year of IMAGINE, which brings a wide ranging programme of live performances, exhibition, film and special workshops to Waterford at the end of October each year.
The festival features both local talent and international artists, and aims to push boundaries and challenges audiences of all ages and interests.
The programme for 2008 is not yet available.
The 2007 line up was as strong as ever, and as always the emphasis was on live preformance. On the Irish music front the Garter Lane Theatre hosted the legendry Liam O'Flynn with Paddy Glacken and also singer Karen Casey, one of the great voices of folk music, with her band.
Martin Taylor, acoustic Jazz guitarist extraordinaire made his only appearance in Ireland in 2007 at The Church, while London based acappella group, the Swingle Singers brought their unique approach to classical music to Christchurch Cathedral.
On the literature front, Dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson, one of only three living poets to have been published by Penguin Modern Classics read.
A French Film Festival ran thoughout the week, with five new releases screening including Edith Piaf biopic La Vie en Rose.
