Sligo Traditional Singing Weekend
Centered around Sligo town this weekend of singing workshops, informal singing sessions, audio and video presentations, scholarly talks and a field trip is dedicated to the art of traditional singing, which is thankfully alive and well in Sligo and surrounding areas.
Among those whose appearances are confirmed for 2008 are Len Graham, probably unique in being not just the first but almost the only traditional singer from Northern Ireland to be a full time professional at his art; Roisin White, one of the foremost exponents of the Ulster song tradition and Sligo singer Mai Hernon. Also there will be John Moulden, Moya Ní Choilm and Tim Dennehy, one of the finest ballad singers in Ireland.
In addition to the ever popular singing workshops there will be local tours, walks and plenty of mucis sessions to enjoy.
