Ros Tapestry Project, New RossThe Ros Tapestry Project is an extraordinary community enterprise involving the embroidering of 15 large panels which will when complete will bring to life the 800 year long history of New Ross, from the struggles for supremacy among Ireland's High Kings and the early monastic settlments though the Norman invasion and the growth in importance of the town right up to the present day.

The work is being carried out by over 90 voluntary stitchers working in teams at various locations in County Wexfor and  County Kilkenny in Ireland, working to designs created by Countess Ann Griffin Bernstorff, an accomplished painter and embroiderer.

The project began in May 1998 and to date seven tapestries have been completed. These will be on display during the Expo along with the cartoons on which the remaining eight will be based. There is little doubt that this tapestry, when complete, will become one of Ireland's top tourist attractions and anyone in Ireland at this time should do all they can to get to New Ross and see it at this early stage.

As well as an unmissable chance to see this remarkable work in progress, there will be a Norman Festival in the town, with medieval music, re-enactments of Norman life, displays of pageantry and lots of family activities.
