Coleman Traditional Festival, SligoThis festival is a celebration of Irish music and culture, focusing on the South Sligo Style of music as played by Michael Coleman, a noted and very influential fiddle player. It is centred around the Coleman Irish Music Centre in Gurteen, Co. Sligo.

The line up of performers for 2007 includes local legend fiddler Peter Horan who with fellow player Gerry Harrington brings great energy to old traditional tunes. From Co Limerick, the Mulcahy family, comprising Mick Mulcahy and his daughters Louise and Michelle, play from their vast repetoire on a variety of instruments while sisters Cora and Breda Smyth from Mayo are sure, as always, to wow listeners with their extraordinary virtuosity on fiddle and whistle.

An International fiddle Competition will bring the cream of musicians from far and wide, while a junior competition of very high standard affords and opportinity to see emerging talent for the future.

The festival Ceili is always a lively event and this year music will be provided by the Carousel Ceili band.

As well as the official festival events, with so many find musicians gathered in one place you can be sure that there will be no shortage of sessions taking place over the weekend. Definitely a great event for any lover of Irish traditional music.
