O'Carolan Harp Festival
A ten day feast of Irish music with traditional music concerts, sessions and workshops as well as craft demonstrations and exhibitions. The highloght is the International Harp Competition, but there are also workshops for all levels of player and many recitals.
The festival is held in honour of Trulough O'Carolan, the last of the Irish Bards, and while harp music is at its centre there will be all sorts of musicician in attendance and a great variety of traditional sessions to chose from, as well as concerts - the headline act this year is the ever popular Dervish.
A feature of the festival is ceili dancing, and even if you have no idea how to do any type of Irish dancing do go along to a Ceili if you can. There will be plenty of people to teach you the ropes and its great fun and very sociable - plus really good exercise!
There will be harp display by harp maker Colm O'Meachair during the festival and a vintage car rally will take place on the opening Sunday.
