Leitrim Roots Festival 2009
Note: Details below refer to the previous event. Updated information for this year will be published here as soon as it becomes available.
The idea of this enjoyable festival is for the descendants of Leitrim exiles and Leitrim people living abroad to return for a week of heritage & entertainment.
It's all based around the The Leitrim Genealogy Centre in Ballinamore, who host a packed programme of events, tours, workshops and entertainment.
Events this year include tours of Strokestown House, the lovely North Leitrim area and Arigna Mines, a ceili, a moonlight river cruise, theatre and lots of music.
You don't have to have Leitrim roots to attend, but for those who do it is a particularly fascinating and fun occasion. And if you are tracing your roots, the staff of the Genealogy Centre will be on hand to assist.
