Clonmel Junction Festival
2008 is the 8th year of the festival, which continues to grow and become ever more popular. This year sees performers from the USA, Belgium, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Spain, Norway and the UK as well as home grown ones, appear in an array of events encompassing theatre, dance, music, comedy and spectacle.
The latter is certainly a good description for the prize-wining carnival group Sansazione who will create a colourful theatrical faiground in Clonmel which requires the efforts of those visiting to make it work.
The musical highlight is an appearance by Malawian band Mind, Body and Soul, who were winners at the Music Crossroads Festival and will perform with local band Maslow. There will also be folk bands from several countries and a new dance production by choreographer David Bolger.
The festival is based in Clonmel and draws crowds from miles around, with over 30,000 attending in 2007.
