Arts Festivals in Ireland 2007 & 2008

At Kilkenny Arts FestivalPhoto by Irish TypepadThere has been a significant growth in the number of festivals in Ireland which have a varied shedule of events covering many different aspects of the arts. So, we are listing them separately from more general festivals or those which have a specific topic.

These festivals are very well attended both by visitors and by local people who are invariably involved not just with organising them but in many of the events taking place. All have lively fringe festivals, with lots of music and entertainment in local pubs and hotels and on the streets.

There are few that don't have excellent programmes for kids, often including practical workshops. The latter tend to book out almost as soon as tickets become available, so if you are planning to attend with children keep an eye on the websites to grab your spot at the best workshops as early as possible.
