Dance in Ireland 2007 & 2008
Photo by Irish TypepadBy no means confined to Irish dancing - even the of the Riverdance variety - the dance scene in Ireland encompasses modern dance and ballet and although events can be few and far between they are often of a very high standard.
Dance Theatre Ireland, based in Dun Laoghaire, are a progressive and interesting group who stage shows in their own theatre as well as touring regional venues. Ballet Ireland are a classical dance company who tour regularly. There are occasional stagings of ballets by international companies, particularly Russian ones, which mainly are in either Dublin or Belfast.
We try to post up-to-date details here of any upcoming dance events in Ireland, but another good place to look is the Dance listings at Ticketmaster, where you can buy tickets online for many touring shows.
