Jazz & Blues in Ireland 2007 & 2008
Photo by Keiran HynesIrish Jazz and blues afficiandos are not exactly spoiled for choice, though there are a few good venues in Dublin at least. In other cities and town there tends to be occasional rather than regular events.
Outside of cities it is much more hit and miss and jazz events in particular are rather few and far between.
Jazz & Blues Venues in Dublin
The Pendulum Club in JJ Smyths pub in Aungier St on Sundays is Dublin's best known jazz event, and the same venue has a Blues night every Tuesday. The newer Blue Note club in Capel St has a clubby athmosphere and good jazz, blues and funk events every Friday and Saturday.
The National Concert Hall often has jazz concerts and there are also some occasionally at Vicar St and the Sugar Club.
In Belfast the Empire Music Hall has occasional jazz and blues gigs, as does the Waterfront.
