Photo by mozzercorkMany of the regular traditional fairs that take place in various towns and villages in Ireland have a very long history and while there is still trading in animals - especially horses - carried on, most have expanded to include music and other entertainment also.
Horse shows and agiricultural shows are a feature of rural life and there is one on somewhere every weekend, often several. Very few tourists make it to these events and that is a great pity as they are wonderful way to sample Irish life and meet up with people and for anyone with even a passing interest in horses or in farming will have a great time.
We have only listed a few of the major events here, there are too many to list them all individually - there is a calendar of equine events in Ireland here, I have not been able to find one for agricultural shows, but you will see signs locally when one is on.
Balmoral Show
