Sporting Events in Ireland 2007 & 2008
The Irish are sports mad and there is no shortage of sporting events to attend no matter where you travel in Ireland.
The GAA, governing body for Ireland's national games of Hurling, Gaelic Football and Camogie, have a club in every parish and visitors are welcome to attend local matches - ask locally for venues. Rugby is also extemely popular, though mostly played in Winter, and soccer has a very strong following.
Horseracing, golf, sailing, athletics, swimming - you name it, it will be going on, so whatever you are interested in there will be something you can either see or participate in - the events listed below are just some of the major ones.
