Horse Riding in Ireland
It would be fair to describe Ireland as the 'land of the horse'. Irish bred horses have long been at the very top in the horse-racing world and the Irish Draught breed has been crossed with thoroughbreds to produce show jumpers and hunters that are in demand internationally as both competition and leisure horses.
And then of course there is the famous Connemara Pony, an attractive and sturdy breed, ideally suited to trekking and capable of carrying adults as well as children.
Not all trekking centres are equal and standards can vary a lot. The ones we list are known for maintaining high standards and for ensuring that each rider is matched to a suitable horse or pony. If you have any comments about any of these listings we would love to hear them!
