What's open on bank holidays?

We will be in Counties Clare and Galway over Easter. We land Easter Saturday. Will we have any difficulties on Easter Sunday and Monday finding places to eat and tour? We have vouchers for B&Bs. Is it reasonable to believe we won”t have any difficulty finding a place to stay over this long weekend.

There was once a time when lots of places closed on Bank Holidays – but no more. Restaurants will be open, in fact pretty much everywhere will be open.

Because we are experiencing such a serious recession, accommodation is available on much shorter notice than it used to be in the past, so you should be fine with late booking too. Having said that, the vouchers do narrow your options somewhat, so I would call ahead to the places you want to stay just a couple of days beforehand.

I just wanted to follow up on my query.  You were right, we had no problems anywhere with Easter or the following bank holiday.  As always, our trip to Ireland was excellent.    We visited Bunratty castle and folk park on Easter Sunday and it was lovely.  It seemed we had the park to ourselves.  We stayed in farmhouse B&Bs and our reception couldn’t have been any warmer or more gracious.   The Irish know how to do hospitality.  Can’t wait for our next visit.  Thank you.
