Dublin Pass Suggested Itineraries

We decided to approach the issue of getting the best value from a Dublin Pass by putting together itineraries for three very different days out in Dublin. We have added a few tips and warnings along the way about various aspects of using the Pass.

We are aiming for maximum value here, so all of these are very full days, the aim is to start early and keep moving. You could do all three in a row, but you would be pretty exhausted by the end. You really will need to have planned your routes/transport in advance.

The itinerary for each day follows a logical route, with little or no retracing of your steps. For more information about any of the attractions mentioned see links here.

Days Out in Dublin with a Dublin Pass

Day One: Major Attractions

On the way to dinner drop by the Temple Bar Visitor Centre, show your Pass and pick up a free poster.

You can visit each attraction any number of time on your Pass, though only once per day. If you have a pass for 2 or more days and enjoy Guinness, you can go back to the Guinness Storehouse on subsequent days, skip the tour and just go to the Gravity Bar to claim your free pint of the black stuff.

Day Two: With the Kids

This is a good day for those travelling with kids, though we have based prices on adult entrance charges. Because it is a kid's day, the pace needs to be realistic - this may be tad strenuous for younger kids.

Though flagged as child friendly, the GAA museum isn't all that interesting to kids (especially those not from Ireland) unless they are really into sport. Keep the visit here short, or skip it if time is running tight.

Day Three: A Cultural Day

A morning immersed in Dublin's literary history followed by an afternoon and evening out of the city along the coast. For the afternoon and evening route use the north bound Dart (suburban train) line for transport, all are in reasonable proximity to a Dart station on that line.
