InterRail passes are available to residents of Europe and North Africa only and are valid for travel in up to 29 countries. Price depends on the number of countries in which you wish to use the pass. You cannot use an Inter-rail pass in your country of residence.
Passes can be bought for one zone, two zones or all zone. All passes are valid for train travel only in Ireland and the UK, in some other countries they are valid for some bus and ferry services also.
Ireland and the UK constitutes one zone. If you are planning to visit Northern Ireland, a one zone Inter-rail ticket is probably better value than the passes you can buy from Irish Rail, since it allows unlimited travel. It also means that you could visit, say, Ireland, the UK and France on a two-zone ticket.
Where to Buy
InterRail passes can be purchased in any mainline rail station in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe.
